Lee Smith is a mix engineer based in the UK. He brings a unique blend of old-school warmth and modern precision to every track, with a focus on creating mixes that feel as timeless as the records that first inspired him.
Lee was drawn to the art of sound, spending his time touring in bands, but it wasn’t long before the allure of studio production began to take hold starting with his 4 track cassette recorder. Obsessed with the warmth and depth of analogue equipment, it wasn’t long before Lee dove head first into the world of vintage gear and classic recording techniques.
Inspired by the greats of analogue-era music production, he built a studio centred around a vintage MCI console and a vintage 3M M79 2” tape machine, a setup designed to capture the depth and character of sound in its purest form. Over the years, this space became the foundation for countless projects, from indie artists to established acts seeking that analogue warmth and raw musical energy.
While Lee started as a musician, it was his obsession with mixing that ultimately took centre stage. Over time, his deep understanding of analogue gear and studio techniques, paired with a ear for balance and dynamics, allowed him to hone his craft and become a sought-after mix engineer.
